On Target Miniatures is a small farm in North Central Connecticut owned by Mary Adams and Gary Gudinkas. Mary and Gary have been involved with horses since they were teenagers in the 1960's.

Mary was active in 4-H in High School with her first horse George who she kept while majoring in Animal Sciences at the University of Connecticut. She was a member of various intercollegiate judging teams and spent free time at the barns where her small hands were often in demand to help deliver lambs. After graduation she worked in a research lab while earning her Master's Degree in Animal Diseases and buying property to keep more horses! This was in the early 1970's when single women were not routinely buying real estate, and especially not on dead-end dirt roads with acreage for horses (and trails to ride).

When Mary and Gary met in 1982, Mary was temporarily horse-less but that did not last long. First a friend gave her an Arabian gelding, and when he died in 1994 she bought Target, an eight year old Pinto gelding. Target was unregistered but soon was registered with the Pinto Horse Association of America (PtHA) and his show career started as New England Pinto shows. He had been a cowpony, but Mary expanded his horizons by teaching, training and competing in dressage, along with showmanship, trail, and English and Western rail classes. In 2003, after the second of his colic surgeries, Mary and Target earned their Amateur Pinto Championship. The pair also earned Pinto awards in Open Dressage showing Training, First Level and schooling Second Level and beyond.

In 2003 he was brought home from his last boarding barn, and in 2004 Mary and Gary bought their first miniature horse to keep Target from getting lonely.

In keeping with the Pinto emphasis on versatility, On Target Miniatures strived for minis that can excel in a variety of disciplines including jumping and driving and hence their goal of owning miniature sport horses.
